A new hotel has joined Milwaukee’s vibrant Deer District.
The nine-story Trade Milwaukee, an Autograph Collection Hotel by Marriott, features 207 luxurious rooms and suites, destination dining with a rooftop restaurant and lounge and three additional food and beverages outlets for guests. The hotel also has indoor/outdoor meeting spaces that can accommodate groups of up to 400 people.
The 175,000-square-foot hotel opened in April 2023, becoming the first full-service hotel to open in downtown Milwaukee in more than four years.
“That signifies growth for our city and for tourism and all the good things that tourism brings with it,” said Peggy Williams-Smith, president and CEO of VISIT Milwaukee.
There were a number of unique materials and applications used for The Trade. Some can be seen on the ninth floor restaurant, Il Cervo (“The Deer” in Italian), which has a 4,350-pound pizza oven. The fourth floor features “MVP Tall” guest rooms that have taller ceilings, shower heads, vanities and doors for visiting NBA teams.
Findorff served as the general contractor for the project, while GBA Architecture and Design provided architectural services.
“The intricate detail and craftsmanship are truly what set this project apart from others,” said Nicole Plautz, marketing operations specialist at Findorff. “Inside The Trade, many one-of-a-kind design elements can be found that pay tribute to the city of Milwaukee. The Findorff team had to collaborate problem-solving on how they would pioneer some of these new applications and materials, taking the ideas and rendering them into a reality.”
