The Boldt Group, the principal of the Appleton-based general contractor, named Dave Kievet as its president and chief executive officer. Kievet will succeed fourth-generation leader Tom Boldt, who served as president and CEO since 1998 and will remain chairman of the board.
“Since my great-grandfather Martin Boldt opened his carpentry shop in 1889, we’ve been a company that looks to the future,” said Tom Boldt in a statement. “Now is the right time to put leaders in place for the next generation and I have every confidence in Dave and our executive team’s ability to take this company into the next 135 years,” he added.
Under Kievet’s care as president since 2020, The Boldt Company expanded into new markets and invested in new technologies including prefabrication and modular construction, officials said in a news release.
“Over the past several years we have made remarkable strides forward and I’m excited to continue to build on the legacy the Boldt family has created over the last 135 years,” Kievet said in a statement. “My new role will allow me to focus more on our strategic growth plans and solidifying the processes and structure for even greater future success,” he added.
In 1990, Kievet started with The Boldt Company after graduating from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Officials said he was a driving force for the company and helped earn its place as a recognized leader in innovation within the construction industry. Since he joined, the company opened a new office location and adopted “Lean construction principles and innovative methods for delivering projects.”
Tom Boldt succeeded his father, Oscar C. Boldt. He graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. and is a long-time visionary, committed leader and champion of innovation, sustainability and lean construction practices, officials said.
In January 2023, The Boldt Company completed OneBoldt Center, its new corporate headquarters in Appleton.
