Tweet Garot Mechanical acquires firm in Upper Peninsula

De Pere-based Tweet Garot Mechanical in late February announced it acquired Marquette, Michigan-based HVAC and plumbing firm Prime Specialty Contracting.

It’s the most recent Michigan firm acquired by Tweet Garot. Company officials said Tweet Garot was the leading mechanical contractor in the Upper Peninsula after the acquisition.

Tweet Garot leadership didn’t share details of the deal but said they had a relationship with Prime Specialty Contracting’s founder. Prime has offices in both Marquette, Michigan and Escanaba, Michigan.

“I’ve known Prime’s founder Cory Bushong for many years, and I’ve watched him build something truly unique,” said Christopher Howald, chairman and CEO of Tweet Garot, in a statement. “In just six years, Cory and his team have built a business and a culture that stand out in this industry. We didn’t pursue Prime because of geography alone – we pursued them because of the people, the reputation and the values they’ve established. Together, we believe we can create the dominant destination for both employees and customers in Upper Michigan.”

Bushong will remain at the company permanently and will continue to lead his team of around 90 employees, officials said.

Prime Specialty Contracting operates three divisions: Prime Mechanical Contracting, Prime Plumbing, Heating & Cooling and Prime Welding & Fabrication. The company serves residential, commercial and industrial clients throughout the Upper Peninsula.

Both the Marquette and Escanaba facilities will remain open and in full operation.

In November, Tweet Garot announced it acquired Temperature Control in Traverse City, Michigan.

Company locations include De Pere, Wisconsin Rapids, Wrightstown, Tomahawk, Altoona, Gladstone, Michigan and Tempe, Arizona.
