Long-time H.J. Martin employee retires
After working for H.J. Martin and Son for 46 1/2 years, the crew coordinator Chuck VandenLangenberg retired from the company last month.
VandenLangenberg started with the company in 1969 at 17 years old, working part time unloading tile from boxcars. He became a full-time employee in 1971, first working as a glass cutter and truck driver before become a residential-flooring installer. He was promoted to residential crew coordinator around 2000.
Brian Valentine took over most of VandenLangenberg’s duties following his last day on the job on June 2.
Only one employee has worked for H.J. Martin longer than VandenLangenberg.

HGA hires Knoerr as electrical department head
HGA Architects and Engineers has hired James Knoerr to be its associate vice president and electrical department head in Milwaukee.
Knoerr will direct business development, operations and electrical practice for the firm’s electrical engineering department.
Knoerr has 30 years of professional electrical engineering experience. Before joining HGA, Knoerr was vice president and principal at Dolan & Dustin.

Caterpillar announces new HR officer
Cheryl H. Johnson is the new chief human resources officer of Caterpillar Inc., company officials announced recently.
Johnson brings more than 20 years’ experience to the role. Most recently, she was executive vice president of human resources for the aerospace, defense and industrial-manufacturing company Textron Inc.
Johnson will report directly to Caterpillar chief executive Jim Umpleby and will be a member of the company’s executive office.
MCTS director celebrates 20 years with agency
Dan Boehm, president and managing director of the Milwaukee County Transit System, is celebrating a 20-year work anniversary.
Before taking over as managing director three years ago, Boehm had worked in various roles for MCTS, including in its planning department.
Rockwell Automation holding job fair
Rockwell Automation is holding a job fair to help fill the many open positions at its Mequon plant.
The job fair will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday at 6400 W. Enterprise Dr. The company is looking for entry-level and advanced assemblers, material handlers, electronic testers and manufacturing-team leaders.
Streetcar recruitment session on Thursday
A number of organizations involved in building Milwaukee’s new streetcar are holding an information and recruiting session on Thursday.
Those attending the session will hear about the streetcar and other construction projects, and will receive information regarding career and training opportunities in the building trades.
The event will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday at the WRTP/BIG STEP office, 3841 W. Wisconsin Ave. Job-seekers must bring a valid driver’s license, proof of high-school graduation, their social security card and a resume.
Faith Technologies holding virtual hiring event
Electrical contractor Faith Technologies is holding its first-ever virtual hiring event as part of efforts to recruit more workers for a variety of roles.
The event will include live presentations, interactive career booths and live chat sessions with members of Faith Technologies’ human-resources team. The company is hiring for a variety of entry-level positions.
