Crews work on the Wisconsin Center expansion project on Friday in Milwaukee. Gilbane Smith, a joint venture between Gilbane and CD Smith, is the construction manager on the $456 million project. The work will give the building 1.3 million square feet of space connected to a 300,000-square-foot exhibition hall. The project will also add 400 indoor parking stalls, 24 new meeting rooms, a ball room with seats for 2,000 people, six new loading docks bringing the total to 22 and an executive kitchen.
As part of the economic plan for the project, 25% of the work is going to minority-owned businesses, 5% to women-owned businesses and 1% to disabled-veteran-owned businesses.
Groundbreaking for the project was held in October and upon its projected completion in May 2024. (Photos by Kevin Harnack)
