PROJECT SIGNIFICANCE: In October, broke ground for the new Science and Technology Innovation Center, called SciTech, at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls campus. University officials said the STEM center is the campuses’ largest project in history and will be constructed in the footprint of the former Hagestad Hall. The state supported the project with $111.73 million enumerated in Gov. Tony Evers’ 2021-23 budget, legislative documents showed.

The around 136,000-square-foot center will have more than 30 undergraduate research spaces and 12 instructional labs, according to the university website. The center includes three wet bench research labs, a makerspace, a fabrication lab, a collaboration area, a conference room and offices.
