New Land Enterprises, the developer behind the world’s tallest timber apartment tower, has launched Timber + Partners in Milwaukee.
The real estate development company aims to design mass timber buildings across the U.S. and partner with other firms with similar goals, according to officials.
Tim Gokhman, the head of Timber + Partners and New Land Enterprises, made the announcement on social media.
“The last five years have been spent learning, designing, building, traveling to see other projects, conferences, media, etc.,” Gokhman said. “It’s clear there’s an incredible demand for the biophilic benefits of mass timber buildings.”
The Timber + Partners team is made up of Tim Gokhman, chief executive officer, his father Boris Gokhman, chief technology officer, and Sheldon Opperman, chief financial officer and general counsel for both firms. Boris Gokhman started New Land in 1993.
New Land completed The Ascent in 2022. The 25-story, 493,000-square-foot mixed-use high-rise holds the title of tallest timber building in the world at 284 feet and is in downtown Milwaukee. C.D.
Advocates for mass timber have talked about its speed and efficiency during construction and its carbon storing ability. Developers have also touted mass timber’s attractiveness to tenants because of its natural look.
