A short list of architects has been announced for the new University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee academic research building.
The architects will be tasked with designing an approximately 135,000-square-foot, multi-disciplinary academic research building to be known as The Innovation Campus Integrated Research Center. The cost estimate for the project is $58.5 million.
The architects on the short list are Milwaukee-based Eppstein Uhen Architects Inc./ZGF Architects, Continuum Architects and Planners SC/Cannon Design Inc., and Kahler Slater Inc./Lord Aeck & Sargent Inc., as well as Madison-based Flad & Associates Architects Inc.
The IRC will be located on land owned by the UWM Real Estate Foundation inside the Innovation Park Research Campus in Wauwatosa.
The foundation will donate the land to UWM for the IRC prior to the award of construction contracts.
Design work will be based on the UWM Campus Master Plan and the Program Statement completed in March 2010.
