Committed to continuous improvement, Jason Fuhrmann is considered a trailblazer at Miron Construction.

Fuhrmann began his career as a roofer. But after earning a degree in Industrial Technology Management and Building Construction and having an internship at Miron, he became a full-time employee and was promoted to director of hard-bid estimating.

Now the vice president of estimating at Miron, Fuhrmann manages a team of 20 people who estimate more than $3.5 billion worth of work every year. He oversees estimating for everything from small remodels to complex multi-million-dollar projects, including Lambeau Field and the Titletown development, the University of Wisconsin-Madison recreation center and the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy.

He is recognized for his attention to detail, his interest in every project and his responsible planning. For him, estimating is primarily about relationships.

“Finding the right people for the job is more important than finding out how I’m going to pour footing,” he said. “It’s about focusing on relationships and trying to be creative by utilizing the resources we have available.”

This is true for relationships within the company as well.

“While Jason Fuhrmann has a true mind for the dollars and cents of construction, what really drives him is the opportunity to help others grow,” said Jen Bauer, vice president of marketing and communications at Miron.

Fuhrmann has also set up an internship program at the Neenah-based company. He said he wants to provide young people with an opportunity to explore possible career paths at the company.

“It’s the right thing to do,” he said.

He’s also always working hard to bring technological advances to the department. Over the past few years, Fuhrmann has been working to make greater use of WinEst, a database-driven estimating system.

“The best word to describe Jason is tenacious. He is steadfast in executing estimates that are completely accurate and per the plans and specs,” said David Voss Jr., Miron president, CEO and co-owner. “When it comes to fostering a team atmosphere, there is no one better than Jason. … He always has an eye out for future work, guaranteeing the continued success of our entire organization.”
