Every day Mady Less comes to work, there’s a new challenge. While that might scare off some people, Less embraces it.

Less is a project engineer with Gilbane Building Co. Although she has only been in the industry for three years, Less has already made a significant impact, colleagues say.

“One of the things that stands out to me about Mady is her willingness to jump in and support things that transcend her ‘day job,’” said Alicia Dupies, Gilbane vice president and Milwaukee business leader. “Despite her young age, she has embraced with passion and commitment the ACE Mentor program. This takes an investment of her time and talent, which she has given selflessly to benefit a talented cohort of high school students. We are fortunate to have Mady as part of our team.”

Less is responsible for reviewing all contract drawings and specifications for completeness and constructability.

“I enjoy working with clever builders to form a team that makes an impact on the community,” she said.

For the last two years, Less has been working on the award-winning HARIBO Project Great Lakes Pleasant Prairie Production Facility. She and her team won over a tough, foreign client with outstanding project performance.

“Mady’s communication, organization and willingness to dive in and learn new and challenging items were very apparent during this project and played a critical part in its success,” said Brice Belling, who supervises Less.

When she isn’t putting in long hours on the job site, Less volunteers with the ACE Mentor Program of Wisconsin. As an ACE mentor, she works with area high school students helping to inspire and engage them to learn about and potentially seek a future in architecture, construction and engineering.

She also enjoys exploring Milwaukee and all of its food and nature spots.

“I love to eat and craft and be active — all with friends and family,” she said.
