The Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced Zignego Company is the prime contractor for a $12.35 million improvement project along Wisconsin Highway 36, also known as Loomis Road.
Crews will work along WIS 36 from WIS 100 in Franklin to 51st Street in Greenfield. Both cities are in Milwaukee County. Work will start April 18 and is scheduled for completion in fall 2024.
Improvements include resurfacing pavement with asphalt, box culver repairs, improvements to the Scout Lake pedestrian bridge over WIS 36. Crews will also replace guardrails, replace pedestrian ramps to meet ADA standards and replace concrete curbs and gutters.
At least one lane will be maintained in each direction along WIS 36, with the inside lane closed during stage one and the outside lane closed during stage two, WisDOT officials said. There will be potential temporary median closures and access to local businesses and homes will be maintained, they added.
In September, the state transportation agency announced Zignego Company would lead a $60 million project along Interstate 894 in Greenfield. That project will wrap up in fall 2024.
