Commission approves Sherman Park improvement district

After more than an hour of testimony Monday, Milwaukee’s City Plan Commission approved the creation of the Sherman Park Neighborhood Improvement District.
The proposed NID will now go to the Milwaukee Common Council for approval.
Under the proposed NID, property owners would be assessed $50 per dwelling apartment, section of duplex or single-family home.
More than half the estimated $150,000 collected would go toward a grant program for repairing existing owner-occupied homes. Both owner-occupants and non-owner-occupants would pay into the grant fund.
