Services Inc., Pewaukee, won the project to build nine greenhouses for Milwaukee County at the Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory.

VJS’s bid was $10,675,756 and will cover construction of a storage building and site improvements as well as the greenhouses according to The Daily Reporter’s JobTrac online bidding database.

The new greenhouses will replace the county’s aging complex off West Watertown Plank Road. That complex will be displaced when Swan Boulevard is rerouted in preparation for the Zoo Interchange reconstruction, and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation bought the site for $1.1 million.

WisDOT will pay to build the new greenhouses, Claudia Peterson, technical services manager for WisDOT’s southeast region, said in December.
