Milwaukee Common Council President Michael Murphy has announced changes to committee assignments.

Murphy, unanimously elected president Tuesday, had been chairman of the Finance and Personnel Committee and a member of the Zoning, Neighborhoods and Development Committee. He stepped down from those assignments after his election.

Alderman Nik Kovac will replace Murphy as chair of the finance committee. All other chairman assignments will remain the same.

However, Murphy has shuffled some member assignments.

Alderman Terry Witkowski has been added to the finance committee to fill the seat Murphy vacated, and Alderman Joe Dudzik is now vice-chairman.

The aldermen assigned to the Community and Economic Development Committee remain the same, though Alderman Willie Wade is now vice-chairman.

Aldermen Robert Bauman and Tony Zielinski and Alderwoman Milele Coggs have been added to the Judiciary and Legislation Committee.

Alderman Joe Davis Sr. has been added to the Public Works Committee, and Wade, already a member, is now vice-chairman.

Dudzik and Alderman Robert Donovan have been added to the Public Safety Committee.

Alderman Robert Puente has been added to the Licenses Committee.

Kovac and Alderman Jose Perez have been added to the Zoning, Neighborhoods and Development Committee, and Perez is now vice-chairman.
