Cost: $27 million

Size: 51,533 square feet of occupied floor space, with 67 rooms over six levels, including a roof deck area of 1,838 square feet on the sixth level.

Start date: Oct. 15

Lead contractor: Inc.

Lead architect/engineer: The Kubala Washatko Architects Inc.

Landscape architect/structural engineer: R.A. Smith National Inc.

Number of workers employed: About 115

Project challenge: Preserving architectural details of the original building, including its maple wood flooring, wood beams and exposed brick, while reimagining others. Granite street pavers from Europe provided a historic element and streetscape aesthetic.

Significance to the region: The hotel is a converted candy factory, built in 1898.
