PROJECT SIGNIFICANCE: Milwaukee-based Irgens announced construction has started for Mayfair Medical Commons, a new medical office building in Wauwatosa. The building is part of a larger redevelopment planned for a prime infill site south of the Research Drive entrance into the Milwaukee County Research Park, officials said.

“Our team identified a need for new, high-quality medical office space for small to medium-size health and wellness providers in desirable Wauwatosa,” said Rob Oldenburg, project developer for Irgens. “Reconfiguring this prime parcel of land that was underutilized made a lot of sense to us and we are excited to start construction.”

Tenants have committed 45% of the available floor space ahead of time, leaving around 25,000 square feet of space available for lease, officials said.

The project calls for a two-story, steel frame structure with a flexible interior design, officials added. Ample signage will give many users bidding opportunities, less than a mile from the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center and access to Interstates 94 and 43. The Sigma Group provided civil engineering services.
