PROJECT SIGNIFICANCE: Milwaukee-based JJH3group and Wauwatosa-based Galbraith Carnahan Architects are co-developing a mixed-use development with eight townhomes and 11 market rate apartments on the 6400 block of West Greenfield Avenue, the companies announced in a news release. The project calls for demolition of several vacant buildings and rededication of a public park in West Allis.

The official groundbreaking will take place Feb. 12. The project has been in planning as early as mid-2023, said Brandon Reinke, a project manager at GCA.

The mixed-use building will have a single stairway and commercial space for a tenant, Reinke said. Developers are still searching for a tenant. The new buildings are designed around the new park and will help fill the void of missing middle housing, he added.

Recent multi-family projects in West Allis’ Six Points Neighborhood include the West Living and SoNa Lofts. Both projects were led by Mandel Group.
