Best Women Owned Businesses: Maiken Westphal

Maiken Westphal, CEO of Westphal & Co. Inc., has been recognized with a women-owned business award for her leadership and impact in the construction industry.

Westphal became the fourth generation to lead the family-owned company in 2024, which she called her greatest career accomplishment. She has worked in the industry for 16 years and held roles ranging from electrician helper to estimator, project manager, director of business development, project executive and vice president of preconstruction.

“Each position gave me valuable insight into each part of the business,” Westphal said. “I am proud to carry forward our legacy while driving growth, encouraging innovation and creating opportunities that strengthen our culture, our team and the communities we serve.”

She said her leadership philosophy centers on creating opportunities and building a culture where people feel safe, supported and inspired. “Collaboration and innovation move us forward, whether that means improving safety, mentoring the next generation of leaders or helping clients realize greater value in their projects,” she said.

Westphal is active in the National Association of Women in Construction and BioForward Wisconsin’s Women in Biohealth.

“Success means honoring the legacy of those who came before us while shaping a stronger and more inclusive future for our industry,” Westphal said.
