Best Women Owned Businesses: Jessie Cannizzaro

Jessie Cannizzaro, owner of Milestone Plumbing, takes every chance she gets to inspire girls and boys to become the next generation of plumbers.

The Wauwatosa-based master plumber got into the trade working at a young age for her dad, who she said at one point bluntly told her he didn’t think she’d make it in the business. She ended up opening her own business in 2011 and has since enjoyed being a voice for women plumbers and other trade workers, doing everything from speaking at public hearings in the state Capitol to making a coloring book for young kids.

“It’s like an activity coloring book which features our team within it, and it’s got different activities.” Cannizzaro said. “It tells a story about a family, and there’s a little girl that’s in the family. And the plumber, which is one of our teammates, comes to the house and he fixes something. And it walks you through the booking of a service call, the service call happening at your house and this little girl getting this perspective.”

Parents have even sent her photos of their little girls coloring in the book, some Cannizzaro said feels special.

She’s proud to help pave the way for women in construction and give back to her community at the same time. 

One way she’s proud to support those around her is by helping those impacted by recent flooding, including giving away five free water heaters with all labor included.
