Milwaukee committee to consider buying pier, land

Milwaukee Common Council’s Public Works Committee is scheduled to vote on a resolution Wednesday to buy a pier and the land surrounding it.
Using TID money, the city would buy the pier on East Eerie Street from the Union Pacific Railroad Co. If the resolution passes, the land and pier will be developed into a pedestrian plaza, and possibly joined with abutting properties.
According to the resolution, owning the land would enable the city to connect parts of the Riverwalk.
The proposed sale price is $52,950.
