A resolution introduced before the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors seeks proposals to fix leaking at O’Donnell Park while also creating a task force to recommend aesthetic and functional improvements.
Milwaukee County Supervisors Pat Jursik, Gerry Broderick and Jason Haas introduced the resolution, which calls for a request for proposals to repair the leaks while also creating a seven-member O’Donnell Activation Task Force led by James Guolee, executive director of The Park People of Milwaukee County, a nonprofit park stewardship group.
The task force is to identify money sources for park and building improvements, such as opening the Wisconsin Avenue entrance to the public on a more consistent basis and creating new concessions and services, including a beer garden and concerts during summer.
Such a task force is necessary to cure long-standing neglect and deferred maintenance, the resolution’s sponsors claimed. The resolution followed the board’s decision last month not to sell the park to Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co.
