From the very beginning of the massive Foxconn project in Mount Pleasant, Gilbane|Exyte was involved in everything from site selection to construction management. The scope of the work intially included providing help with land acquisition and designs. Gilbane|Exyte also represented Foxconn in various inter-agency government meetings, made presentations at 40 informational sessions, developed the “WI First” economic-inclusion plan and training programs for operators and safety professionals and provided master-planning services for all of Foxconn’s work within Wisconn Valley Science and Technology Park Area 1.

The completed projects include the mass excavation of 5 million cubic yards, the construction of stormwater and erosion-control systems and the associated testing of 800 acres, as well as the construction of various building pads. The work also entailed interior roadways, curb and gutter projects, asphalt paving and associated storm drainage systems and the installation of sanitary, water and electric utilities.

A 120,000-square-foot multi-purpose building was designed and constructed in just five months. The building includes a large warehouse with a two-level office area, 142-space parking lot and loading docks. There’s also a 9,097-square-foot power substation inside a 100,000-square-foot stone yard housing high-voltage equipment.

The first phase of the campus’s 1 million-square-foot Advanced Display Technology factory includes a lobby, 72,000 square feet of office space, a monitoring and control room, a meditation room, a host room and about 800,000 square feet of factory and assembly and warehouse space. The building also houses a large cleanroom.

The project’s “economic inclusion plan” resulted in 92% of all the project contracts going to Wisconsin-based businesses. Two hundred Wisconsin-based businesses from 24 different counties received contracts.
