The Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced a $2.12 million improvement project along Wisconsin Highway 16 in Waukesha and Jefferson counties.

Janesville-based will improve the road along WIS 16 from WIS 67 to Rock River Road in both counties, WisDOT officials said. Work was scheduled to begin April 16, the same week Gov. signed off on the project. The project is scheduled for completion in fall 2024, officials noted.

The work includes mill and overlay of WIS 16, base patching, widening at shoulder points and guard rail improvements.

Traffic impacts include single-lane closures in the four-lane sections of WIS 16, but one lane will be open in each direction during construction, officials said. There will be flagging operations in the two-lane section of WIS 16 and ramps to Wisconsin Avenue, officials added.
