The Uline WQ Distribution Center in Kenosha stands as a monumental achievement in Wisconsin’s industrial landscape.
Nicknamed the “Mother of all Warehouses,” the 1.44 million-square-foot facility is the largest in Wisconsin and ranks among the 20 largest in the nation. Built on a 179-acre site, the distribution center strengthens Uline‘s ability to deliver products across North America and is expected to create more than 200 new jobs.
Hunzinger Construction served as the construction manager, overseeing a complex build that included 85 acres of grading, landscaping and installation of all new site utilities and paving. Design partners EUA and Pierce Engineers collaborated to meet the project’s considerable demands, which included installing 297 loading docks, 1,266 skylights covering more than 38,000 square feet and 522 precast panels requiring 16.3 miles of caulking joints.
“This huge new facility represents more than just the expansion of our physical footprint,” Wade Goff, Uline’s senior director of redistribution, said in the nomination form. “It allows us to deliver products more efficiently than ever, and it will create hundreds of new job opportunities for the local community.”
Using its trademarked Virtual Design & Construction Coordination process, Hunzinger integrated 5D modeling for project sequencing and cost control, allowing for time and budget efficiencies.
Beyond its sheer size, the facility underscores Uline’s long-term investment in Kenosha County, where it now occupies more than 10 million square feet. The new center will bolster the regional economy, adding to Uline’s 4,000 local employees and enhancing southeastern Wisconsin’s role as a national logistics hub.
The WQ project also reflects Uline’s commitment to sustained growth and community impact, supporting future expansions while maintaining more than 57% of site acreage as undeveloped green space.
