Roads, bridges money go out to local governments

Gov. Scott Walker announced Monday more than $80 million has been sent to local governments throughout Wisconsin for General Transportation Aids, Connecting Highway Aids and Expressway Policing Aids, according to a Wisconsin Department of Transportation news release.
The April payments from WisDOT, according to the release, include $77,225,987 in General Transportation Aids to 1,850 local governments, $3,015,874 to 120 municipalities for Connecting Highway Aids, and $255,975 to Milwaukee County for Expressway Policing Aids.
Local governments will share an estimated $416.5 million from the state transportation fund in 2012 to build and maintain local roads and bridges, according to the release.
Quarterly payments for towns, cities and villages in 2012 are sent the first Monday in January, April, July and October, according to the release.
