Integrity Grading on top in bidding for University Avenue rebuilding project

Schofield-based Integrity Grading and Excavating was the low bidder for a project to rebuild University Avenue in Madison in the ‘s March bid letting.

The contractor offered $25.9 million for the project, which would rebuild University Avenue from Shorewood Boulevard to University Bay Drive. The bid beat out a $29.9 million offer from Waukesha-based Payne & Dolan and came in over ‘s internal estimates for the project.

The University Avenue job was the largest up for grabs in WisDOT’s March letting, which drew in nearly $135 million worth of bids for 46 projects. The department has yet to award projects in its March letting, which closed Tuesday.

Also in WisDOT’s March letting, Greenville-based Northeast Asphalt submitted a $12.1 million low bid for a project to rebuild State Highway 55 between Kaukauna and Seymour in Outagamie County. The offer beat out a bid from Manitowoc-based Vinton Construction and came in over the department’s estimates of as much as $10 million for the project.

The other notable projects in the March letting include:

  • Chippewa Falls-based Chippewa Concrete Services submitted a low bid of $8.8 million for a project to rebuild State Highway 35 between Genoa and La Crosse. The bid came in over WisDOT’s estimate of about $8 million for the work
  • Brownsville-based Michels submitted a low bid of $7.2 million for a project on County Highway K in Kenosha County, beating out four rivals. The bid came within the department’s estimates
  • Mosinee-based American Asphalt of Wisconsin submitted a single bid of $6.2 million for a repaving job on State Highway 39 between Coloma and Plainfield. The bid came within WisDOT’s estimates of between $6 million and $7 million for the project.
