SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROJECT: The new YMCA is being built at the site of the former Rapids Mall in Wisconsin Rapids. The new building will have a three-court gymnasium; an aquatic center with more than one pool, swimming lanes, a lazy river and a splash pad; exercise studios with lounge areas; a childcare area; a teaching kitchen; a gathering space; an elevated indoor track for walking and jogging; and a sports field for football and soccer.
