THE BLUEPRINT:

  • Massive apartment project begins in .
  • 710-unit development to be completed by 2028 in two phases.
  • Amenities include pools, pickleball courts, golf simulator and EV chargers.
  • Project addresses high housing demand in southeast Wisconsin.

The first phases of more than 700 apartments in Pleasant Prairie have begun. Developers said the massive project will be one of the largest multifamily developments in .

on Tuesday started construction of Inspire Prairie Springs, an eight-building, 710-unit residential development near 11423 110th St., east of the Pleasant Prairie Premium Outlets. The developer didn’t comment on project financials, but in 2024 shared to Pleasant Prairie officials that the project would cost around $184.9 million.

The first phase will introduce 332 garden-style apartments in three buildings across 22 acres and two amenity clubhouses, which are scheduled for completion in late 2026, project officials said. Both phases are expected to be completed in 2028, officials added.

Madison-based is the general contractor, and Milwaukee-based is the project architect, officials said. Jacob & Hefner will provide engineering services, officials added.

Once completed, the apartment complex will feature studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom layouts ranging from 500 to 1,410 square feet, officials said. Each three-story building will have an elevator and access to underground parking, officials added.

Amenities include two clubhouses, both fully equipped with a fitness center, resident lounge, coworking space, dog wash facility, golf simulator and party rooms, officials said. Outdoor amenities include a pool, pickleball courts, putting green, cabana areas, grilling stations, dog park and playground, officials added.

The project was in planning for 22 months before breaking ground, officials said. An affiliate of Bond Companies bought the land from an affiliate of Venture One, officials added.

Sustainable features include high-efficiency mechanical systems that use less energy and EV charging stations at the buildings, officials noted.

Bond officials said the project will help address the high demand for housing in southeast Wisconsin. The area is home to major employers such as the underway Microsoft, Amazon, SC Johnson, Pfizer, Foxconn, Abbott, Grainger, Uline, Eli Lilly and Haribo, officials noted.
