Sinkhole near Milwaukee’s Humboldt Bridge to be repaired by next week

Milwaukee Water Works staff has investigated the water main break that caused Saturday’s 10-foot deep, 625-square-foot sinkhole near the Humboldt Bridge in Milwaukee.
According to staff, the main was split and cracked. Following their inspection of the integrity of the main, plans have been made to remove the damaged portions and secure the remaining sections. The sidewalk area will be restored and open on Thursday, according to a news release from the City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works.
The roadway, including the sinkhole, will be restored by the end of next week and open to traffic, according to the release.
Milwaukee Water Works will perform permanent repairs in the area in the fall due to the lead time on materials and to minimize impact to businesses in the area, according to the release.
