Sportsbook plans under way at Potawatomi amid renovations

Potawatomi Hotel & Casino announced on Monday plans for a sportsbook on the first floor of the complex, replacing the Northern Lights Theater and Fire Pit Sports Bar & Grill. The development comes with the casino’s current renovation project which is expected to wrap up in summer and fall of 2023.

One sportsbook location features a full bar, eight high-definition televisions and one large LED screen featuring the day’s biggest games, casino officials said. Sportsbook locations will have odds boards and the casino will have a total of 17 kiosks open 24 hours a day.

“This is a transformational time at Potawatomi Casino Hotel,” Potawatomi Casinos and Hotels CEO Dominic Ortiz said in a statement. “For more than three decades, we have served as a leader in Tribal gaming. With the addition of sports betting, we’ll be providing our guests with even more options and welcoming new visitors to the property and the Menomonee Valley.”

Gilbane Building Co. and Greenfire Management Services entered a project labor agreement in September, which included access for apprentices and people looking to enter the trades.

Potawatomi announced in May it would embark on a $100 million renovation project for 120,000 square feet of its casino. The renovation includes more than 1,800 slot machines, a Starbucks, a high limits room and a Rock & Brews restaurant chain owned by KISS members Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons.
