PHOTOS: Apprentices succeed at ABC’s 2025 Apprenticeship Skill Competition

Four winners will showcase their craft skills in Salt Lake City next year after winning first place in their respective trades at the 2025 Associated Builders and Contractors of Wisconsin Apprenticeship Skill Competition in West Bend. A total of 45 competitors from six technical colleges on Dec. 5. in carpentry, electrical, HVAC and plumbing fields.

The first-place winner in carpentry was Owen Spitz of AMCS, Inc. In electrical, Joseph Julga of NSI Electrical Contractors placed first. In HVAC, Joshua Clauss of Epic Systems Corporation won the gold. In plumbing, Matthew Kuefler of Dave Jones was in first place.

Competitors took part in a four-hour, hands-on practical challenge in the morning and a written exam in the afternoon, ABC officials said.
Winners will represent Wisconsin in the National Craft Championships in Salt Lake City from March 18-20, officials added.

“Each year, this competition gives apprentices a meaningful platform to measure their skills against the very best in Wisconsin,” said Kelly Tourdot, president of Associated Builders and Contractors of Wisconsin, in a statement. “It also allows us to see firsthand the exceptional talent driving the future of our industry. We couldn’t be prouder of every participant.”
